Siena Women's Basketball Inks Anna Lundquist

April 15, 2016

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Basketball Head Coach Ali Jaques has announced the signing of Anna Lundquist. The 5'10" wing from Stockholm, Sweden is the second addition to the Saints' Class of 2020, joining Maddie Sims who previously inked with Siena during the early signing period back in November.

"We are extremely excited to add a player of Anna's caliber to our program," said Ali Jaques. "She is an extremely skilled wing with a quick trigger and a great ability to shoot the ball. After spending time with her and her family, there was no question in my mind that she would be a great fit at Siena."

Lundquist has been a member of the Swedish National Team for the past four years, competing at the U16, U18 and U20 levels. In her first season with the U20 squad last year, she averaged 6.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in leading Sweden to a third place finish at the European Championships.

Lundquist first burst onto the European stage in 2012, when she was named to the Nordic Championship All-Star Team while representing Sweden's U16 squad. She averaged 8.4 points and 6.0 rebounds in the European Championships, highlighted by a 22-point, 16-rebound performance in a win over Turkey. Lundquist was previously a two-year member of the U18 squad in which was named the team MVP of the 2014 Baltic Sea Basketball Cup for Sweden's Nordic Championship team.

Lundquist also played for over a decade for her hometown Alvik Basket club, including the past four years with the senior team which competed in Sweden's top league for the last two seasons. She averaged 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 32 games last season, while helping guide Alvik to the national semifinals. Lundquist previously led Alvik's youth team to a pair of silver medals and was a two-time All-Star in both 2012 and 2014.

Lundquist joins a young and talented Siena Women's Basketball program on the rise, which is expected to return four starters, 10 letterwinners and 88% of its scoring next season from a squad which posted a 14-18 record including a 10-10 mark in the MAAC this winter.
