As we begin 2017, we take a look back at the Top-10 Siena Athletics Moments of 2016. We conclude our countdown today with the top Siena Athletics Moment of 2016.
The Moment
May 16 - Our No. 1 Moment of 2016 features the kickoff of a three-year, $13.5 million multi-phase project to produce a new home for Siena Athletics. Construction began the day after Siena College's 2016 commencement, with project completion set for the fall of 2018.
Phase 1A, featuring the construction of an enclosed 8,360 square foot practice court for the men's and women's basketball programs, and the addition of a bank of bleachers to increase the ARC's seating capacity, was completed in September. Phase 1A marked the continuation of major enhancements to the ARC which began during the summer of 2015 (Phase 1) which featured the installation of new flooring and seating systems, including the addition of chairback seating.
Phase 1B, featuring a relocation and enrichment of the indoor baseball and softball hitting cages as well as the facilities storage area, began this past winter, with future phases which include new student athlete strength and conditioning and sports medicine suites, an outdoors facelift to the MAC and a new event entrance, and the enhancement of the student, faculty and staff fitness center set to follow.
