Siena Men's Tennis dropped a road contest to Hofstra on Saturday. The match was a 7-0 sweep in favor of the Pride, dropping the Saints to 2-6 on the season.
Doubles was a tough battle between the two sides. The Saints fell on court one, but took the victory on court three. The point came down to court two, where Hofstra took the match in a tiebreaker.
Hofstra came out strong in singles, taking courts one through three to clinch the match and send the last three courts into pro sets. Freshman Matt Bellino played well, sending his pro set into a tiebreaker, eventually falling 9-8.
"Although the scores are not going our way right now I believe the guys are improving each week," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "With a starting lineup that has a lot of freshmen, they are quickly showing that they are ready to learn fast and I am hoping the wins will follow once we get into our MAAC matches."
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, March 4 in Storrs, CT. Siena will take on UConn at 6 p.m.
