Benitez Transferring Out of Women's Basketball Program

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Women's Basketball sophomore guard Jackie Benitez has announced her intention to transfer from the College, and has been granted her release. The Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania native will leave the school following the conclusion of the spring semester.

"We thank Jackie for the contributions that she made to our program over the past two years, and wish her the best with her future plans," said head coach Ali Jaques.

Benitez was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-MAAC selection this season. She led the MAAC in free throw percentage (.825) and ranked second in the conference in scoring (16.6), steals (88 – 23rd nationally) and threes (82 – program single-season record).

A 2015-16 MAAC All-Rookie Team selection, Benitez appeared in 62 games (31 starts) in two seasons with the program tallying 838 points (13.5 points per game), and departs ranking sixth all-time in school history with 140 career threes.

Benitez is currently in good academic standing at Siena College.
