Kaffka and Cocca Join Siena Staff

March 24, 2017 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Molly Kaffka and Sammy Cocca join the Siena Saints staff. Kaffka has taken on the role of Athletic Academic Advisor while Cocca has been named a new Assistant Athletic Trainer.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Molly serving our student athletes and supporting them in their academic pursuits, said Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator. “Molly injects energy, passion and commitment to our Saints. She has an amazing ability to engage students, coaches, faculty and administrators. We look forward to all that Molly brings to our department."

Kaffka joins the Saints staff after previously working as the Athletic Academic Coordinator at St. Bonaventure during the 2015-16 academic year. She managed the academic needs for Swimming, Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Track and Cross Country. While at St. Bonaventure she facilitated student athletes in the areas of tutoring and campus resources while creating and developing a variety of study strategies.

She has been a member of the Guilderland Fire Department (2005-2009) and Allegany Fire Department (2010-2016). Kaffka was the first Fire Woman President of the Guilderland Fire Department in 2009 and was also Firefighter of the Year in 2006. Now with the Allegany Fire Department she has training for interior with fire suppression, search and rescue execution as well as ice and water rescues.

Sammy Cocca

Sammy Cocca enters her first season as the Assistant Athletic Trainer. She previously worked as the Athletic Trainer for the Warrior Athletic Training Program at the United State Army in Fort Benning, Georgia.

She was responsible for preparation, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. Cocca had to educated cadre and trainees on injury prevention, nutrition and weight loss.

Prior to that she worked as a physical therapy aide/ATC at Capital Area Physical Therapy & Wellness. There she provided services of daily upkeep of the clinic and assisted in the rehabilitation of patients.

Cocca earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Health from Ithaca College in May 2012. She also earned her Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a Concentration in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania in December 2016.
