Saints Take Down Manhattan On Senior Day

LOUDONVILLE, NY - In a dominating team effort Siena Men's Lacrosse took down Manhattan 16-6 on Senior Day. The Saints have now won the last 11 over the Jaspers.

Mike Reilly had a game-high four points coming from one goal and three assists for Siena (1-10, 1-2 MAAC). Jordan Barlow, Chris Robertson, Eric Munn, Tim Cousin and Ross Filtch all recorded two goals a piece. Jake Shapiro went 13-22 (.591) at the faceoff X and picked up a game-high seven ground balls.

Brandon Grinnell led Manhattan (2-9, 0-4 MAAC) with one goal and one assist for two points. The Jaspers had six different goal scorers in the game.

Siena started off the game strong with Shapiro at the faceoff X. Cousin got the scoring started with a goal at 11:45 in the first quarter. Filtch picked up his first collegiate goal with an assist for Reilly just over a minute later. The Saints would continue to dominate in the first quarter holding the Jaspers scoreless. Brian Prunty, Robertson, Barlow and Munn all scored en route to the Saints holding a 6-0 advantage.

Manhattan got themselves on the board with a goal from Trevor Pelletier. Filtch would score his second goal of the game and second of the season to add to the Siena lead. There was no stopping the Saints as they continued to control the ball throughout the second quarter. At the half, Siena would lead 11-2.

Starting off the third quarter, senior defender Joe Arcarese came down the field and put one in the cage to give the Saints a 12-2 advantage. Manhattan would add two more goals in the third quarter, but Siena tallied five goals, including one from defender Luke Van Schepen for a 16-4 lead heading into the final stanza.

The Saints got a little quiet in the fourth quarter, but would not give up control. The Jaspers added two goals of their own, but it would still be the Saints who would come away with a 16-6 victory.

Senior defender Ryan Ghaderi caused a game-high three turnovers as he now ranks fifth in Siena history with 33 total caused turnovers. Arcarese caused two turnovers and is now three turnovers away from the school record. The Saints head back on the road and will take on Canisius in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, Apr. 15. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
