Tennis Opens Fall Season With Victory

Siena Men's tennis start of strong with a decisive win against St. Francis Brooklyn, 6-1. Siena fell last year to St. Francis (Brooklyn) 5-2.

" This was a very good start to the season against a good St Francis team that we lost last year too," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "There was some great energy and match play today by the entire team and I believe we will be a very competitive team this year."

In doubles play, Siena wasted no time at all coming out and winning all three sets to take a 1-0 lead going into singles play.

In singles, Siena won all courts except court 1 which Sagar Bains had to retire with an injury. All freshmen got their first wins as a Saint with Muhammad Raza Sawani and Guillermo Lopez Torres getting 2 wins each in their first matches in green and gold. Geovanny Mendoza clinched today playing 4 singles with a big comeback after dropping the first set.

Up next for the Saints is Holy Cross on September 30 at Albany Academy.
