Meet Assistant Athletic Trainer Brian McElroy

Sept. 18, 2017 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The New York Athletic Trainers’ Association (NYSATA) is holding its annual fall “Athletic Training Recognition Week”. Over the course of this week we will introduce you to all of our athletic trainers. Today, we will focus on Brian McElroy.

  • Graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2010 and earned his master’s from Seton Hall in 2012
  • Has eight years experience
  • Sixth year at Siena College
  • He is mainly responsible for the Women’s Soccer and Men’s Lacrosse programs
Stay tuned as we introduce you to Siena’s Athletic Training Staff throughout the week. The annual Athletic Training Recognition Week was begun during the fall sports season for schools to bring attention to their current efforts in providing sports safety, as well as promote public awareness of its importance.

Athletic injuries can be, at minimum, physically painful and emotionally draining, and, at worst-case, catastrophic and life-threatening. With the growing number of students participating in sports and the high incidence of injuries, including concussion and sudden cardiac episodes, it is critical that schools provide suitable injury prevention, assessment and management support just as they provide coaching support.
