James Pelcher sank the first eagle of the season for Siena Men's Golf Monday afternoon, as the team wrapped play at the 2018 Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational in Apalachin, NY.
The senior's first career 2-under par shot came on the 523-yard 18th hole of the par-72, 7,159-yard course at The Links at Hiawatha Landing, complementing three birdies that were made on holes 9, 14 and 15.
Overall, the Saints concluded their third consecutive week of competition with rounds of 318 & 322 at the 36-hole affair, totaling +64, 640 for a 16th place finish.
Senior
Jack Bellardini led Siena's five-man competition squad at the event, shooting a round of +7, 79 on Monday to finish +11, 155 on the week, good for a three-way split for 60th place individually.
Fellow senior
Jack Downey (+17, 161) finished in a knot for 79th after also carding +7, 79 in the final round, while Pelcher and junior
Jake Holt joined host and tournament winner Binghamton's Tom Mandel in a split for 81st place, turning in +18, 162.
Tanner Donovan rounded out the representatives for the Green and Gold at the southern New York-based event, shooting +44, 188 to finish 89th.
Concluding a string of three straight days in action, men's golf returns home to host Saint Bonaventure at Schuyler Meadows Golf Course in the second annual Murray Cup on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Match play with the Bonnies kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with nine individual matches of 18-hole play, with each match worth two points.
