Sara Riso concluded a stellar Fall 2018 campaign shooting a trio of birdies in round two of the Brown Bear Invitational in Seekonk, Massachusetts Monday.
The reigning
MAAC Women's Golfer of the Month, who
took home individual medalist honors for her performance at the Hartford Hawks Invitational Sept. 29-30, carded +4, 76 in the final round of the 36-hole event at the par-72, 6,123-yard course at the Ledgemont Country Club, finishing with +9, 153 on the week, good for a five-way tie for 21st place.
Taking part in the event for the second consecutive season, the Saints finished in 11th place as a team, shooting +54, 630 to edge out MAAC foe Monmouth by 17 strokes. The team posted a six-stroke improvement in Sunday's second round action, carding +24, 312 in its final round of the Fall 2018 season.
Sophomore
Abigail Chai-Onn also showed improvement in her final showing of the calendar year, making a five-stroke jump from day one to conclude play +13, 157, which placed her in a tie with Wagner's Pascalle Tego for 36th.
Senior
Ashley Nguyen and sophomore
Grace Cuttone were two of six golfers to split for 46th place at +16, 160, doing so after shooting +7, 79 and +9, 81, respectively in the final round. Freshman
Lena Kaufman rounded out the Saints' five-man competing squad, carding +20, 164 to conclude play in a knot for 55th place.
After competing in five events during the Fall 2018 season, Siena will now enter a hiatus before returning to the course for the remainder of its season in Spring 2019. The team's spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
