LOUDONVILLE, NY – Hosting a home event for just the second time in program history, Siena Men's Golf dropped a dual match to sister school Saint Bonaventure University, 7.5-10.5, improving on their score from last season's inaugural running.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Schuyler Meadows Golf Course adjacent to campus, the event featured nine individual matches worth two points apiece. One point was awarded to the player who shot the lowest individual score and one for the most holes won in the matchup. The match was met with driving rain as teams made their way down the back-9 towards the course's completion.
The Bonnies took control of the match early on, capturing four outright wins in the head-to-head duels. This included Zach Chaddock, who carded the team's low score of the day, a par-72.
Seniors
Jack Bellardini and
James Pelcher, along with freshman
Brad Whitaker each collected both points in their individual matches, with Whitaker going -1, 71 for the low score of the day on either side.
With each team taking in its third straight day of competition, Saint Bonaventure took home the cup for the second straight year, after taking the first-ever Murray Cup by a score of 11-5 in 2017.
Siena will continue its fall competition schedule Oct. 7-9, when the team takes part in the UCONN Invitational at the GreatHorse Golf Course in Hampden, Massachusetts.
