Siena Swimming posted 11 season-best times in individual events Saturday afternoon, competing in its first tri-meet of the 2018-19 season. The Saints traveled to Vestal, NY to face host Binghamton and conference foe Niagara, falling to the Bearcats, 171-94 and to the Purple Eagles, 173-97.
The Saints (0-4, 0-2) attended the event between the three teams for the fifth straight year, improving their score against the host school by 39 points from 2017. Binghamton defeated Niagara 161-109 in the women's meet, while the Bearcats' men's team took their portion of the meet, 172-107.
Several Saints swimmers achieved best times in their events for the Fall 2018 season in the event, while others took part in certain races for the first time this year. Junior
Larissa Nanna saw pool action for the first time in the Fall 2018 campaign, beginning her year with a 1:13.82 in the 100 yard breaststroke and a third place finish in the 200 breaststroke, finishing with a 2:37.14.
Among the team's top finishers was senior captain
Elizabeth Fournier, who placed second in the 200 yard butterfly with a 2:15.46. The 400 freestyle team of
Sarah Duggan (58.32),
Katelyn Ludwicki (59.29),
Carrie Bonvissuto (57.90) and
Rachel Brown (56.24) placed third in the event, beating out five other groups from the two opposing schools.
The meet also marked the first time this season that Saints took part in the 400 yard individual medley, with
Sydney Lautenslager,
Isabel Harms and
Shannon Leary swimming in the event for the team, finishing third, fourth and sixth, respectively.
Siena continues its Fall 2018 slate in a dual meet at Vermont on Sat. Oct, 27 at 1:00 p.m.
