Volleyball Plays Host to Fairfield (7 PM - WATCH)

Three-time defending MAAC Champion comes into the ARC

Arguably the two most storied volleyball programs in the MAAC face off Wednesday night in Loudonville, as the Siena Saints return home to the ARC for a three-game home stand as they square off against the three-time defending MAAC champion Fairfield. Between the two programs, they have won 19 of first 28 MAAC Championships dating back to 1990. Fairfield has won five of the last six MAAC titles, with Siena winning in 2014 to capture their ninth championship in program history.

Siena looks to grab their second win of the season and first MAAC win of the year. With injuries hampering performance, the Saints have dropped seven in a row since their lone victory of the season over Lafayette on September 8.

Leading the pack on offense is sophomore Nicole Deobler, who has collected a team-high 123 kills so far this season. She is the only Saint over the 100 kill plateau, as sophomore Dakota Jackson and freshman Abby Huffman have put up 88 kills apiece to be in a tie for second in the category. Huffman has been the most consistent, leading all hitters in attack percentage with a .269.

A pleasant breakout season for the Saints has come from sophomore Brooke Rogers. She currently ranks second in attack percentage among hitters, as well as fourth in kills with 53. She also ranks among the top five in every other offensive category for Siena.

For Fairfield, leading the way is Mayda Garcia, who has emerged as the leader on the floor for the Stags. Her 3.91 kills per set and 168 total leads her team and ranks near the top in the MAAC. Setter Alexis Rich is also a key component to the success, as the Stags offense runs through her as they have grabbed six wins in a row, all MAAC matchups. Libero Taylor Rudeen has also been solid for the Stags, putting up almost 4.5 digs per set, leading her team in the category.

Siena and Fairfield will be facing off for the 58th time in program history, with the Stags owning the advantage 39-18. Last time these two teams squared off last season, Fairfield won in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-18).
