Saints Fall 3-0 to End Three-Game Home Stand

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Saints dropped their final match of a three-game home stand as the fell to the Manhattan Jaspers by a final score of 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-18). Manhattan's Vivian Donovan exploded on offense, grabbing a game-high 16 kills on the day.

Sophomores Dakota Jackson and Brooke Rogers led the team on offense with six kills apiece. Jackson and sophomore Nicole Deobler each collected seven digs as well. Classmate JoJo Ishida led the team in digs with nine on the match, with Rogers putting her hand in two blocks.

For Manhattan (1-18, 1-7 MAAC), Donovan was able to hit .333 in route to her 16 kills. As a team, the Jaspers hit .344 on the day with Erin Hoener having a team-high .562 with nine kills. Shruti Mangipudi collected a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs, with Alyssa Rehrer snagging a team-high 18 digs.

The Saints (1-18, 0-8 MAAC) struggled in set one, allowing Manhattan to collect 13 kills as a team. Siena also had five errors in the set, which aided the Jaspers to a 25-9 win in the set. Set two would be the fight, as the green and gold were able to fight out to a 13-11 lead. However, Manhattan then put up a 6-0 on three kills and three Siena errors to swing the score back the other way, 17-13. The Saints couldn't recover, as the Jaspers took a 25-19 win to go up 2-0.

Set three would be the most productive for the Saints on the match, as they put up a high of 10 kills in the set. They would fight their way within a point, as Manhattan held a 17-16 lead. However, the Jaspers would pick up eight of the last ten points to take the win 25-18, clinching the match and their first win of the season.

The Saints return to the floor this Saturday afternoon, October 13 when they head to Poughkeepsie to take on the Red Foxes of Marist. First serve goes up at 1 p.m. This will be the second matchup of the season between the two teams, with Marist taking a 3-1 win in Loudonville on September 21.
