LOUDONVILLE, NY –  Junior Sabrina Piper led all Siena Saints scorers, as she put up a season-high 11 points as the Green and Gold fell in a loss on the road to the Sacred Heart Pioneers Tuesday night by a final score of 72-50. The game was Siena's first road game of the season.

The Saints (0-2) had redshirt senior Joella Gibson score seven points while grabbing seven rebounds. Junior Maddie Sims scored nine points, while Lala Watts had her career game to date collecting nine points and eight rebounds. Siena turned the ball over 17 times and shot 14-for-37 from the free throw line, as they struggled in those departments.

Sacred Heart (1-1) had four players score in double figures, led by the sharp shooting of Erin Storck. She would go 6-for-9 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range for a game-high 17 points. Kat Haines had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Pioneers, while Candace Leatherwood and Jayla Davis finished with 12 and 11 points respectively. The Pioneers were able to convert 23 points off turnovers, while also outscoring the Saints in the paint 36-28.

The green and gold only attempted three chances from three-point range in the first half, with Piper knocking down the lone trey. Siena would go scoreless in six tries in the second half until Gibson hit from deep with under a minute remaining.

Things were even throughout, as Siena actually held the lead for most of the first quarter and did after the first 10 minutes, 15-11. But Sacred Heart would surge in the second quarter, outscoring the Saints 20-11 in the second frame. A free throw from Storck at the 7:42 mark left in the second quarter would give the Pioneers the lead, which they would not give up the rest of the way.

Piper's lone three pointer with nine seconds to go in the first half helped an eight point Sacred Heart halftime lead be only five, as it came in handy to start the third quarter. Back-to-back jumpers from Sims and Piper cut the lead to one point early. The Pioneers combatted the offense from Siena the rest of the way, as the lead was at nine by the end of the third. In the fourth, Sacred Heart grabbed a lead as big as 28 points with 1:29 to play.

The Saints return to action this Friday, November 16 when they return to the ARC to take on Harvard. Tip-off for the game is set for 7 p.m.
