Here's Ten Things to Know About Tonight's Matchup
.) Siena is looking to build off an encouraging 77-67 defeat in their season-opener Tuesday night at Big East power Providence. The Saints whittled an 18-point second half deficit down to as little as seven with 3:25 to go.
.) Siena made 12 threes against the Friars, while shooting nearly 43% from distance. The Saints made 12 threes or more in a game just twice last season.
.) Siena was led by freshmen Sloan Seymour and Jalen Pickett in their collegiate debuts. Seymour scored a team-high 15 points on 5-9 shooting from distance, while Pickett added seven points and nine assists.
.) Siena is playing its second of four straight games away from home to open its season in the Air Force Reserve Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Presented by Citi. The Saints travel to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut for a pair of games next weekend. Siena will play Norfolk State next Friday night at 8:30 p.m., and then square off with either Holy Cross or Stony Brook on either Saturday or Sunday pending results.
.) The Saints fell to an even 39-39 all-time in season openers with Tuesday night's loss. Siena has now dropped six of its last seven season openers, and its past six road openers.
.) The Saints are looking to snap an 11-game road losing streak tonight, dating back to an 87-68 triumph at Bryant on Dec. 17, 2017.
.) Siena returns just 28% of its total points, 30% of its assists, 35% of its minutes, and 38% of its rebounding from last year's squad.
.) The Saints and George Washington meet for just the fifth time, with the all-time series level at 2-2. The programs met just two years ago here in Washington, DC as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic, with the Colonials squeaking out a 77-75 win.
.) Siena is 36-72 (.333) vs. the 14 programs that currently comprise the A-10. Nineteen of the Saints' 36 victories have come against Fordham (10) and St. Bonaventure (nine), with 61 of their 108 games vs. current A-10 programs having come against the Rams and Bonnies.
.) George Washington posted a 15-18 overall record last season, and finished 11th out of 14 teams in the Atlantic 10 with a 7-11 conference mark. The Colonials return two starters and six letterwinners. GW scored the first 22 points of its season-opener vs. Stony Brook Tuesday night, before succumbing 77-74 in overtime at the Smith Center.
