Siena is partnering with the Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region today to host the Saints' first-ever Sensory Friendly and Autism Awareness Game. Special accommodations will be made to create a more sensory-friendly environment for fans with autism and other special needs. In an effort to create a more comfortable environment, slight in-game adjustments will be made to the lighting, public address, and music levels, and flashing ads on the video scoreboard, ribbon boards, and scorer's table and media table LED displays will be eliminated. Also, public address reads and video features will be conveyed during the game to help raise autism awareness for those in attendance. Coaches and bench personnel will wear signature autism puzzle ribbons to show their support.
Siena (4-8) is in search of its fifth non-conference win, which would be the program's most since going 7-4 in 2015-16. The Saints enter play continuing to rank in the top-10 nationally in both fewest fouls per game (14.2 - fourth) and fewest turnovers per game (10.0 - eighth). Siena also boasts two of the MAAC's top-six scorers, and three of the top-six in three-point makes.
Cal Poly (3-8) is led by Newburgh, New York native Donovan Fields, who ranks fifth in the Big West averaging 16.2 points per game. The Mustangs will be playing their first game in the Empire State in 59 years, and facing their first MAAC school since taking on Saint Peter's in 1973.
