LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Men's Lacrosse was bested by reigning MAAC Champions Monmouth 17-8 on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks have now four-straight against the Saints.
Monmouth (4-5, 2-1) was led by Bryce Wasserman who tallied seven points off of four goals and three assists. Noah Lode stopped 15 shots in goal to help give the Hawks the victory.
Brendan Lantieri and Mike Reilly led Siena (2-6, 0-3) with two points a piece. Lantieri scored two goals, while Reilly registered one goal and one assist.
The Hawks opened up scoring quickly into the game and rattled off four goals to lead 4-0 just under five minutes into the opening frame. Eric Munn put the Saints on the board, but a Monmouth goal with five seconds left on the clock would give the Hawks a 5-1 lead after one quarter played.
Brian Prunty and Keenan Cook tallied back-to-back goals to bring the score within two, 5-3. The Hawks continued to pour on the goals and tallied six unanswered goals to lead 9-3 at the half. The Hawks held Siena scoreless in the third frame and tallied three goals, two of those three being man-up to lead 14-3 with just 15 minutes to play.
Siena battled back and Lantieri with a dish from Dylan Pantalone followed by a Pantalone goal would put the Saints behind 15-5. Reilly put one in the cage with an assist from Chris Robertson, who had his goal-scoring streak end, but extended his point scoring streak to 21 games, put the Saints down 15-6.
Monmouth added a goal before Brendan Johnson registered his first career goal followed by a second Lantieri goal to put the Saints down 16-8. The Hawks would add one more goal to take the victory 17-8.
Siena will continue their three-game homestand as they host MAAC rival Marist on Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
