Siena Men's Tennis fell 6-1 to Quinnipiac on Friday afternoon at TriCity in Latham, New York. Siena dropped to 2-2 in league play having defeated Rider and Saint Peter's.
Quinnipiac got things started early in doubles play. Both doubles partners fell 6-2 at doubles one and three, while Cameron L. Kirkwood and Sagar Bains dropped the match 6-3 at doubles two. The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
After taking a 2-0 lead by taking court one in singles, Matt Bellino won at singles six 6-0, 6-2 to give Siena their first point of the match. Quinnipiac then took singles four and five in straight sets to clinch the victory. Muhammad Raza Sawani fell 6-3 in the first set and fought back to take the second set 7-5. He then fell 6-2 in the third set. Bains battled just like Raza Sawani after falling 6-3 in the first set. Bains came back to take the second set 6-3, but ultimately fell 6-3 in the third set to give Quinnipiac the 6-1 victory.
The Saints will travel to face Monmouth on Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m.
