What They're Saying About Jamion Christian

May 9, 2018

"Siena is getting a phenomenal coach in Jamion Christian, who has the best of both worlds in that he's very young, and, in his relatively short coaching career, he's gained great experience. He's ahead of the game. He's a phenomenal recruiter and evaluator. He's going to bring guys to Siena, just like he did at Mount St. Mary's, that quite frankly could probably have gone a level or two higher. The recruiting side of it is going to be a home run. He's always been terrific at recruiting, and Siena has a lot to sell. He has an infectious confidence. That's the one trait about Jamion that sets him apart from the majority of people. Put the coaching aside, he has a confidence and a way about him, a belief about him, that is not limited just to him. He has a confidence about him that impacts the guys he coaches, the coaches he works with, and the administrators he's with. It's such a positive trait. The staff at Siena is really going to like that about him. He's just extremely positive. He's optimistic. I think, with what we do as coaches, it's really beneficial if you're able to see the glass as half-full. There are a lot of challenges, a lot of moving targets in today's college basketball world. But his confidence, his positivity and his optimism, along with his ability to relate to people, is really special."
Shaka Smart, Head Coach, University of Texas

"Jamion Christian has a tremendous competitive spirit and a very curious mind. That, along with the fact he can really teach and coach basketball, endears him not only to his players and recruits but to the fan base. He is an outstanding communicator and really knows how to get the most out of his groups."
Tom Crean, Head Coach, University of Georgia

"I'm extremely proud of the coach and man Jamion's turned out to be. He understands the importance of developing players on and off the court. Jamion is a smart, passionate, and competitive person. Siena's basketball program is in good hands."
Milan Brown, Assistant Coach, University of Pittsburgh

"Jamion has been able to build his own exciting style by learning from each of his stops, and has always had the confidence to keep what he believes and add to his own creativity. Siena fans will be on a roller coaster every night with a group of kids believing, and finishing what they started. Show up early and don't leave `til they shake hands. Coach Christian is a leader."
Pat Flannery, Former Head Coach, Bucknell University

"Coach Christian is a good coach that understands the players. He worked with me a lot at VCU. He would find all sorts of ways to keep me interested in the art of shooting the basketball which really, in the long run, helped my work ethic overall in the game. I tend to find that coaches have more success when they can relate to the players or speak the players language, other than `X's and O's' being drawn up every time. I believe in Coach Christian. When I was around him, he never stopped working on different ways to help me get better. Great pickup by Siena."
Troy Daniels, Phoenix Suns Guard

"Coach Christian was a guy who took a chance on a skinny kid from North Carolina back in 2012, and for me was a coach who would always make me feel as if we were going to win. There was not one game that I played in that I felt we didn't have a chance. The confidence that he gave off left you with no choice but to compete and give everything left in you. He is a perfect example of `believing it before you can see it.' The progression of the Mount in his time there is a prime example of what he can do to help turn around a program, and create an environment where not only the players believe, but everyone else as well."
Chris Wray, Mount St. Mary's University Men's Basketball Forward
