Siena Swimming took to the road for its first competition of the 2019 calendar season, taking on the Red Flash of Saint Francis (PA) in a dual meet Saturday afternoon. The Saints won the final three events in the 120-70 falter, which kicked off three straight weeks of competition for the squad this month.

Individually, sophomore
Sydney Lautenslager took the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in a 5:33.30, with junior
Carrie Bonvissuto (5:38.57) following behind. Junior
Larissa Nanna followed suit during the next the event, racing to a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.10. Sophomore
Shannon Leary and senior captain
Maggie Davenport helped the Saints to a sweep in the event, posting times of 1:12.40 and 1:17.15 to take second and third, respectively.

The team closed out the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay, with the team of
Francesca Tinucci,
Katelyn Ludwicki, Bonvissuto and
Rachel Brown dashing to a 1:45.18.

Helping to complement the squad's event wins, senior captain
Elizabeth Fournier placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a 1:00.61. Senior
Julianna Sebastian swan a season-best time in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in an 11:47.22.

The Saints (1-8, 1-2) return to dual meet action next Sunday, Jan. 20, at 1 PM, taking on Howard on the campus of NJIT in Newark, NJ. The team will return home the following weekend, hosting MAAC foe Saint Peter's in a senior day dual meet at the Siena Swim Center at 2 PM.
