It was a tough night for the Siena Saints women's basketball team Thursday night, as they faced the Marist Red Foxes on the road. Marist would knock down 14 three-pointers in the contest, as the Saints fell by a final score of 88-59.

Aaliyah Jones led Siena in scoring on the night, totaling up a season-high 16 points that included a 3-for-7 clip from deep. Freshman
Amari Anthony also put up a strong game offensively, also snagging a career-high 15 points going 4-for-6 from the floor with a trio of three-pointers and led the team in rebounds with seven. Junior
Maddie Sims chipped in with eight points, while classmate
Sabrina Piper tossed out a team-high five assists.
Marist was led by Rebekah Hand, as she collected a game-high 24 points in 26 minutes for the Red Foxes, going 8-for-12 from the floor, including a 4-for-6 showing from behind the arc. Hand also led Marist in rebounds and assists with eight boards and five assists. Willow Duffell and Kendall Krick also each put up 11 points as well, while Grace Vander Weide led Marist with a pair of steals.
The pace was fast and solid to open the game, with the Saints and Red Foxes trading baskets through the first few minutes. A three-pointer by
Aaliyah Jones helped set the tone early, as Siena only trailed by four going into the first media timeout at the 4:23 mark. The Marist found their groove from behind the arc, totaling up five long balls in the first quarter to take a 25-16 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Marist kept the hot shooting to begin the second half, as Siena went cold over the first five minutes. The Red Foxes opened with a 12-0 run through halfway point of the quarter before the Saints got going. Siena was able to cut into the 19-point lead Marist put up, as Rawls got things going with a three pointer out of the timeout. Sims would also get open for a pair of buckets in the final minutes of the first half, as Siena went into the half trailing 42-28.
The Red Foxes pulled away in the third quarter, as Siena went cold from the floor. Marist exploded for 29 points while they held the Saints to just nine in the frame. Things continued into the fourth, as the Saints found bright spots in Anthony and Jones down the stretch. Marist continued to make shots, and pulled away for the win.
The Saints return to the floor on a quick turnaround, as they will travel to West Long Branch, NJ to take on the Monmouth Hawks on Sat, Jan. 19. Tip off for the matchup is set for 2 p.m.
