The Siena Saints men's tennis team had a heartbreaking start to their 2019 spring, as they slightly fell to the Colgate Raiders 5-2. After just missing the point in doubles, each singles match went the distance, as the Saints had chances to clinch multiple points.
"What a match on all six courts in singles today," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "Each one went three sets, which I have never witnessed before in any match I have ever coached. I was very impressed with the fight the men showed today on court."
In Doubles, Colgate would take the top two doubles courts, while
Sagar Bains and
Matt Bellino grabbed the lone doubles win for the Green and Gold.
Bains was the only one to win both of his matches on the day, as he and freshman Tomas Del Olmo took the top two points in singles. However, the Saints would fall three through six on the board to drop the match, despite with all the matches going to the final set to decide a winner.
The Saints return to action Sunday, Jan. 27 when they head to Boston for a 9:30 a.m. start against the Boston University Terriers.
