SWANTON, VT – Siena Men's and Women's Cross Country continued their Fall 2019 seasons at the UVM Fall Foliage Invitational Saturday afternoon, enjoying success on both sides.
The men placed third out of five competing teams, while the women took second place in their four-team competition field.
Continuing stellar senior campaigns, seniors Evans Kibet and Sydney Johnson both took home top-3 finishes in their respective races. Kibet ran a 24:48.70 in the men's 8k to place second individually, while Johnson clocked an 18:00.20 in the 5k to finish third.
The pair were part of three-top 10 individual finishers in each race for the Saints, who competed at the event hosted by the University of Vermont for the first time ever.
Junior Aidan Canavan (25:31.80) and senior captain Michael Rautter (25:34.60), placed ninth and 10th, respectively, while sophomore Owen Walker (18th) freshman Aidan Gillooley (20th), freshman Brandon Olden (25:56.80) and senior Michael Stoker (26:17.80) counted scores for the Saints.
On the women's side, sophomore Olivia Lomascolo (18:20.50) and freshman Sophia Vinciguerra (18:22.50) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, while senior Camryn Johnson (11th), junior Monica Strain (12th), senior Carolyn Pellegrini (15th) and junior Morgan Serkes (19th) followed behind.
Siena's cross country squads will have one final competition before heading to the MAAC Championships in November, taking part in the CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, CT next Friday.
