Juliana Goehner clinched the Siena Saints women's tennis team their first dual match win of the season, as they topped the Sacred Heart Pioneers on the road Sunday afternoon by a final score of 4-3. Goehner would win her match as No. 4 singles by a finish of 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
Playing well in her first collegiate appearance was freshman
Maanya Viswanath, as she won in both singles and doubles play on the day. Siena would win the doubles point thanks to wins at No. 1 featuring
Meagan Brown and
Anastasia Koniaev, as well as at No. 3 doubles with Viswanath and sophomore
Sarah Marro. In singles, despite Brown falling at No. 1, the Saints won courts 2-4 to take the three points they needed to add with the doubles point to take the win.
"I was glad to the women battle each court," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "I'm glad they battled on each court today to pull out a win."
The Saints return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they open MAAC play at home in a matchpu with the Rider Broncs.
