NEW HAVEN, CT - Siena Basketball continues its season long four-game road trip when the Saints battle defending Ivy League Champion Yale Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the John J. Lee Amphitheater. Gameday Central coverage commences with the Siena Basketball Pregame Show at 6:30 p.m. locally on Talk1300 AM and 98.7 FM.
Siena (2-2) is in search of its first road win of the young season as it prepares to take on another top-notch opponent away from home. The Saints' first road game came at 19th ranked Xavier, and Siena traveled to the other half of last year's Ivy League Co-Regular Season Champions in Harvard last Thursday. The Saints' four-game road trip matches the program's longest road trip in 25 years, while the 39 days between home contests is the longest stretch in the program's more than four decade Division I history.
Siena enters tonight's showdown boasting three of the MAAC's top-eight scorers and four of the top-20 overall. The quartet of
Donald Carey (16.0),
Jalen Pickett (15.8),
Elijah Burns (15.5), and
Manny Camper (11.3) has combined to average 58.6 points per game to account for 80% of the team's scoring so far.
While the Saints' last game came six days ago, Yale (2-2) is in its second game of a stretch where it plays five games in 10 days including contests in Oklahoma and Florida. Predicted to finish third according to the Ivy League Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Bulldogs have won three of the past six conference championships while totaling 103 overall wins and a 52-18 league record over that time.
Siena and Yale meet for just the third time and first time in 22 years. The program's played a home-and-home during the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons, with each squad winning on its home court.
