Shorthanded Saints Fall at Defending Patriot League Champs

Camper Leads the Way With 17 in 72-62 Defeat at Colgate

Box Score HAMILTON, NY – Jordan Burns scored 25 points to lead defending Patriot League Champion and preseason favorite Colgate past Siena Basketball 72-62 at Cotterell Court. Manny Camper led the Saints with 17 points.

Will Rayman added 15 points for Colgate (5-3) which has won 16 straight against non-Power Five opponents. Reserve Keegan Records contributed 10 points for the Raiders which have won 33 of their past 37 games at Cotterell Court including 10 straight.

Donald Carey and Elijah Burns tallied 14 points apiece for Siena (2-4) which was playing its third straight defending conference regular season champion to open its road trip. Jordan King contributed seven points off the bench for the shorthanded Saints who were without the services of MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Jalen Pickett.

Siena scored six of the game's first seven points and led by as many as seven early on at 13-6 following a King three at the 11:59 mark. But Colgate responded with a 15-4 run to claim the lead for good and took a 31-26 advantage at the break. Camper led the way scoring a dozen of his points before intermission for the Saints.

The Raiders led by as many as 14 points midway through the second half at 48-34, but the Saints battled back. Burns scored all 14 of his points in the second half and Carey capped a 13-4 spurt with a triple to rally Siena back within as close as five at 52-47 with 6:37 to go. However, the Saints could get no closer as Burns took over down the stretch for Colgate which won its fourth straight.

Siena concludes its season long four-game road swing with its first trip to the Golden State in seven years, when the Saints travel to Cal Poly for a 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) tip next Saturday, Dec. 7 in San Luis Obispo, California.
