Siena picked up its first win of the season in a tri-meet in Vestal, NY to open up the 2019-20 campaign back in Oct. 19. The Saints defeated conference rival Niagara, 157.5-132.5, while falling to host Binghamton, 210.5-86.5. The effort saw the Saints pick up their first season-opening win since 2016 and featured freshman
Jessica Shine (200 IM)
Reilly King (100 free) and
Rory Kalac (50 free) each winning events to begin their collegiate campaigns.
The Saints began the month of November by winning five events in a dual meet loss at Stony Brook last Saturday. King (200 free & 500 free) and Kalac (50 free) took top spots individually for the second straight meet, while classmate
Lydia DeLano became the first Saint in three seasons to win a diving event, taking the top spot in both the one meter and three-meter diving events.
Overall, Siena has posted 34 best times in its first two competitions this season, with senior
Carrie Bonvissuto (1000 free) and junior
Sydney Lautenslager (100 fly & 200 fly) joining the team's record 10 freshman in doing so.
Wagner enters the weekend holding an 8-5 advantage all-time over the Saints, including a 157-130 result on Nov. 10, 2018 in Loudonville. Siena last took a win in the series in 2001. The Saints posted a 1-2 record at hom during the 2018-19 campaign, defeating MAAC rival Saint Peter's, 136-87 on Jan. 26 to close out their dual meet schedule.
Picked to finish seventh in the MAAC for the second straight season, Siena posted an eighth-place finish at last year's MAAC Championship, with eight swimmers qualifying for a championship heat and a school record being set in the 200-yard butterfly.
