Saints Snag Senior Day Win Over Monmouth

Siena Tops the Hawks in Sweep Led by Seniors, Remain Undefeated in MAAC Play

The Siena Saints women's tennis team honored their three seniors prior to Sunday's home match with the Monmouth Hawks. Along with the pomp and circumstance, the Green and Gold swept through their competition on the afternoon, taking down the Hawks 7-0 for their second MAAC victory of the season.
 
In doubles, Siena won quickly on court 3 with the duo of seniors Annie Phillips and Anessa Leyva, followed by another quick win on court 2 from senior Natalie Weaver and Dilara Spicer. Leyva and Phillips took a quick 6-0 win, while Spicer and Weaver won 6-2. The Saints then took court 1 with Kylie Mullaney and Meagan Brown to sweep for the point, 6-4.
 
In singles, Siena took all six courts to get the win. The seniors topped the scorebook, led by Phillips who did not lose a game all match, winning 6-0 in doubles 3 then winning 6-0, 6-0 at 6 singles. Anessa Leyva only dropped one game today winning 6-0 in doubles and then taking court 5, 6-0, 6-1. Natalie Weaver also grabbed a pair of wins on the day, winning 6-2 at 2 doubles followed up by 6-4, 6-2 win on court 3.
 
"It was great to see all three seniors play well today and finish their special day with wins," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "These three ladies have been with me since my first season at Siena and have been awesome and I will miss them for sure next season."
 
The Saints return to the court next Saturday, March 30 when they head down I-95 to Poughkeepsie to take on the Marist Red Foxes. Opening serve goes up at 12 p.m.
