LOUDONVILLE, NY – After a strong showing over Monmouth last weekend, it was unfortunately a different story for the Siena Saints on Saturday afternoon. They fell to the Marist Red Foxes by a final score of 5-2 in their first outdoor match of 2019.
In doubles with it tied 1-1 thanks to a win on court 1 from
Meagan Brown and
Kylie Mullaney, court 2 featured the determining match with senior
Natalie Weaver and freshman
Dilara Spicer. Marist came from behind to take five straight games to win the doubles point and go up 1-0.
In singles, Siena was only able to win courts 2 and 5 with victories from
Kylie Mullaney and
Laura Becker, dropping the other 4 courts. Mullaney would take the win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Becker would take her match 7-5, 6-3.
"It was a really tough day today we just could not keep the ball in the court," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "It was one of those days you just want to forget about. We have some work ahead us to be ready next weekend but will work hard to play better next weekend."
The Saints return to the court on Saturday, April 6 when they head to Quinnipiac. The opening serve will go up at 11:30 a.m.
