LOUDONVILLE, NY – Entering their first outside match of the 2019 spring, the Siena men's tennis team had a rough adjustment to the conditions as they fell to the Marist Red Foxes by a final score of 6-1.
In doubles Marist swept all courts for the point, as sophomore
Guillermo Torres and freshman Tomas Del Olmo fell in first doubles but scored, as well as
Sagar Bains and
Matt Bellino in doubles two.
In singles, Siena's only point came from junior
Geovanny Mendoza at 5 singles, taking the win 6-4, 7-6 (4) on the tiebreak. Torres almost snagged a point at 3 singles, falling 6-7 (4), 6-1, 10-8.
"Today was rough day especially our footwork which we will work hard on this next week to compete a bit better," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "Doubles was a bit of a letdown today, usually our strongest component was our weakest today"
Up next for the Saints will be another MAAC matchup with the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday, April 6 in Hamden.
