Siena Men's Golf teed off the for the first time in 2019 Friday morning, taking part in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, North Carolina for the fourth consecutive year to begin the new year. Through one round of play on the par-71, 6937-yard Pinehurst No. 8 Course, the Saints sit in 12th out of 14 competing teams, shooting +26, 310 to begin their spring campaign.

Freshman Brad Whitaker leads the Green and Golf individually after the first 18 holes of the 54-hole event, sitting in a five-way tie for 11th place from shooting +2, 73. The remaining four members of the team's five-man competition squad sit middle of the pack after one round of play, with each registering at least one birdie on the first go-around. Freshman Jared Nelson (+7, 78) sits in a six-way knot for 51st place, while senior Jack Bellardini (+8, 79) split with four others for 57th. Rounding out the team are sophomore Pudge Williams (+9, 80) and junior Jack Brown (+10, 81), who are tied for 62nd and 70th, respectively.

Competing as an individual, senior Jack Downey shot +11, 82 to finish day one in a four-way tie for 74th place.

Overall, Davidson holds a nine-stroke lead after shooting +1, 285 collectively to begin the tournament. Siena sits five strokes behind Longwood (+21, 305), and leads Ohio (+31, 315) by five strokes. Individually, the Wildcats' Clayton Tribus holds a three-stroke lead after shooting -4, 67 in day one.

Following the tournament's opening round, Siena will be back in action at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Saturday beginning at 8 AM to play 18 more holes. The team will begin with a tee-time start at hole 10, starting with Brown at 8:45 AM and continuing every nine minutes thereafter.
