TROY, NY - Playing in their second match in two days, the Siena Saints bounced back from a tough match at Fordham to roll to a 6-1 victory over the Niagara Purple Eagles at Hudson Valley Community College Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Saints clinched a top four spot in the MAAC, securing a berth to the MAAC Championships later this month starting on April 27.
Clinching the victory would be senior
Natalie Weaver on Court 4 in singles, as she took a 6-0, 6-2 win. Freshman
Laura Becker also rolled in a win at Court 5 singles, only surrendering one point in a 6-1, 6-0 victory. In doubles, both courts 2 and 3 consisting of the pairings of Weaver and freshman
Dilara Spicer, and seniors Anne Phillips and
Anessa Leyva took home 6-2 and 6-3 wins, respectively, to clinch the doubles point to start the day.
Siena returns to the court on Saturday, April 20 when they take on Fairfield in their MAAC finale of the season. First serve against the Stags will get things going at 11 a.m.
