Box Score The Siena Saints women's tennis team concluded their regular season slate on Saturday afternoon, as they squared off against the Fairfield Stags. It wouldn't be the day for the Saints, as they fell to the Stags by a final score of 5-2. However, the Saints would clinch the number four seed in the MAAC Tournament after the match, reaching the MAAC Tournament for the fourth straight year.
In doubles, the Saints would get a 6-2 win on court 2 from freshman
Dilara Spicer and senior
Natalie Weaver. Siena would come close to clinching at court 3, as Annie Phillips and
Anessa Leyva fought to a 7-5 defeat as the Saints fell behind 1-0. Weaver and Spicer would be the points getters in singles play as well, winning on courts 3 and 6. However, the Saints fell in straight sets elsewhere on three courts, while Leyva fought out a three-set 4-6, 6-2, 5-10 loss.
The Saints will return to action next Saturday, April 27 when they head to the MAAC Championships to take on the first-seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats. Opening serve for the matchup will take place at 10 a.m. at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
