Rossi, Miller Achieve Milestones in Doubleheader Split

Rossi Records 900th Victory While Miller Sets Program Wins Record

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball Head Coach Tony Rossi recorded his milestone 900th win and senior ace Tommy Miller tallied his program record 24th career victory as the Saints split a Good Friday twin bill against MAAC frontrunner Quinnipiac at Connors Park. Siena captured the opener 3-2 behind Miller's performance, while the Bobcats rallied to take the nightcap in another one-run affair, 4-3.

Game One: Siena 3, Quinnipiac 2
Miller twirled his second complete game victory of the season to lead Siena (10-24, 5-9) to the series-opening win and benchmark victory for both himself and Rossi. Miller, who earlier this season broke Dave Pahucki's program records for both strikeouts and innings pitched, passed him in a third major category in taking over sole possession of the all-time wins mark.

Miller scattered eight hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out eight and walking just two. He retired each of the final 11 batters he faced – including five via strikeout – capped with a K of Brian Moskey to end the game.

The Saints secured a 3-0 lead through four innings on a first inning RBI groundout by Alex Milone followed by a two-run fourth. Nico Ramos knocked in a run on a groundout, while Brendan Conley hit an RBI double to left center to push the lead to three.

Quinnipiac (16-21, 8-3) finally broke through with a pair of runs in the sixth, but Conley turned a miscue into a decisive play to hold the lead. Following a throwing error which brought in the second run, Conley secured the carom and gunned down Liam Scafariello at the plate to preserve the advantage. The Bobcats lost two runners at home in the one-run defeat.

Zach Durfee and Matt Hamel each tallied a pair of hits and scored a run apiece in the victory. Durfee doubled twice, while Hamel added a single, double, and a stolen base.

Game Two: Quinnipiac 4, Siena 3 (7)
Quinnipiac scored a trio of two-out runs in the sixth inning to rally in the nightcap and earn a split of the doubleheader. Dylan Lutz and Kevin Huscher sandwiched run-scoring singles around a wild pitch to push the Bobcats to victory.

Huscher finished 3-for-3 with a run scored for Quinnipiac which sent eight men to the plate during the decisive sixth inning. Lutz's RBI single tied the game, while Ian Ostberg came into score on a wild pitch for the deciding run.

Siena scored twice in the third inning on RBI singles by Hamel and Kelly to take a 2-1 lead. The Saints later rallied in their final at-bat in the seventh, with Milone singling home Hamel to cut the deficit to one. The hit pushed the potential tying run into scoring position, but Siena was unable to break through as they suffered their eighth one-run loss.

Durfee walked twice to push his on-base streak to 22 consecutive games, while Kelly's hit increased his stretch to 20 straight.

The split sets up a huge rubber game Saturday at 1 p.m. as the Saints look to secure a much needed series win.
