Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Stopped at Monmouth to End Season

Offense Struggles as Saints Fall to Hawks

It would be an afternoon of frustration for the Siena Saints men's lacrosse team, as they traveled to face the Monmouth Hawks in their regular season finale. Siena would struggle to find the back of the net, as they were topped by the Hawks by a final score of 12-6. With the loss, the Saints will end their season at 6-7 overall.

Siena was led by a pair of two point days from senior Keenan Cook and junior Dylan Pantalone. Cook would score a goal and an assist, while Pantalone scored twice to lead the team in that category. Senior Mike Reilly, and sophomores Jack Kiernan and Brendan Lantieri each scored once as well. Siena would total 41 shots in the game, putting 20 on net. In goal, Aaron Lewis would make eight saves in the loss.

Monmouth saw Griffin Figel have a five-point day, scoring twice and dishing out a team-high three assists. Leading with four goals was Anthony Sardo, while Cade Stratton and Max Brooks each tallied three points as well. Goalie Noah Loade made 14 saves in net, collecting the win for the Hawks.

The Saints struck first, as Reilly gave the Green and Gold a 1-0 lead at the 8:51 mark. That would lead into a lengthy Monmouth run of seven goals that ran through halftime and into their first goal of the third period with 13:24 in that quarter. Cook would finally score to break the streak with 12:18 to play in the third, until Monmouth once again put up another run of three goals to take a 10-2 lead with 11:55 to play in the game.

Siena then began to find some offense, as the Saints scored four of the game's final six goals. Lantieri and Pantalone would each score to put things at 10-4 with 7:28 to play. But the Hawks would have a response, equaling the Saints pair with two goals of their own to take a 12-4 lead with 3:52 to go. The Saints wouldn't go quietly, as Kiernan and Pantalone each scored in the final two minutes to put the score at 12-6.

The Green and Gold outshot the Hawks 41-32 in the game, with both sides putting 20 on net. The Saints were only 6-for-8 in clear attempts, while both teams managed 30 ground balls apiece. Hurting the Saints on offense would be a 1-for-4 clip in an extra man advantage, while Monmouth went a perfect 3-for-3.
