The Siena Saints closed out their weekend in the Hofstra Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as a pair of doubles squads were able to place in the main and backdraws of their brackets.
Leading the way was the doubles grouping of
Tomas del Olmo and
Guillermo Lopez Torres, as they played into the backdraw final of the main draw with a win over Adelphi, 6-4. Then they were able to take the championship of the backdraw with a 6-4 victory over Queens. Also appearing in the back draw of the main bracket was
Matt Bellino and
Muhammad Sawani, as they fell in their matchup 6-1.
Also putting up a solid finish with a runner up finish in Draw B was
Cameron Kirkwood and Alex Giannakitsidis, as they won their first matchup against Saint Francis (PA) by a final of 7-5. With a chance at the Draw B main final, the pair would fall to Fairleigh Dickinson.
Geovanny Mendoza and
Marvin Oberli also won their first double matchup before falling 6-3 to Adelphi. Both Mendoza and Oberli also fell in singles as well.
The men's tennis squad return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they play host to St. Francis Brooklyn. The Saints first dual match of season gets kicked off at 12 p.m.
