TROY, NY - The Siena Saints men's tennis team opened their dual match portion of their 2019-20 schedule on Saturday afternoon, as they played host to the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers. Outside of a singles win from
Sagar Bains, the Saints struggled across the board falling 6-1 in the opening match.
Bains took his win at No. 1 singles, taking the victory in straight sets by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. The Saints almost grabbed a point at No. 2 singles with sophomore
Tomas del Olmo forcing a three set showdown after taking a clutch point after the second set.
Guillermo Lopez Torres also forced three sets in his loss at No. 3 singles, while spots 4-6 all fell in straight sets.
In doubles,
Matt Nardone and Bains teamed up for the lone win at No. 3 doubles, with the top pairings losing to give the Terriers the points in that segment.
The men's tennis team returns to action next Sunday, Oct. 6 when they hit the road to Connecticut to take on Sacred Heart. Opening serve for the match is set for 12 p.m.
