Women’s Golf Falls to UAlbany in Crosstown Challenge to Begin Season

The Saints teed off their 2019-20 campaign with the defending MAAC Champions in Albany

ALBANY, NY – Siena Women's Golf teed off against its Capital Region rivals in UAlbany for the fourth consecutive season Sunday afternoon, falling in the Crosstown Challenge to begin the 2019-20 season.

The defending MAAC Champion Great Danes walked away with a 284-327 victory in the 18-hole match play event, with the low four scores from each team counting towards the final tally.

Taking the course with four returners from last season and three newcomers Siena used the event as a stepping stone for four regionally-located tournaments that it will take part during the rest of its Fall 2019 slate.

Coming off a MAAC All-Championship Team performance, junior Abigail Chai-Onn tied freshman Kaity Rittner for the low individual score on the team, with each shooting 81 on the par-70, 5237-yard course at Wolferts Roost Country Club.

The pair were joined by senior captain Marisa Fiorina, junior Grace Cuttone, sophomore Lena Kaufman and freshman Isabella Diaz in participating in the season opener.

The Saints will be back in action with tournament play next weekend, taking part in the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, New Hampshire September 14-15.
