Siena Commences Western New York Trip Friday Night

Saints Tip Off Annual Trip at Canisius

BUFFALO, NY - Siena Basketball continues its three-game road trip when the Saints begin their annual Western New York swing at Canisius Friday at 7 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center. Siena, who edged Canisius 73-72 in the first meeting between the squads Dec. 23 in Albany, is in search of its first regular season series sweep of the Golden Griffins in four years.

Undefeated at the Times Union Center so far this season, Siena (7-7, 3-2) will take another shot at securing its first road win of 2019-20 tonight. The Saints are one of only two Division I programs (Maryland) who is undefeated so far at home this season and winless in true road games. The seven teams that Siena has lost to on the road are a combined 36-7 (.837) at home so far this season.

Canisius (6-10, 1-4) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 72-68 victory at Saint Peter's Sunday. The Golden Griffins rallied by scoring the final nine points of the contest in their 22nd game since the start of last season decided by five points or less.

Elijah Burns hit the game-winning three with 7.4 seconds left in last month's thrilling come-from-behind victory in which Siena rallied from 13 down to top Canisius in Albany. Reserve Majesty Brandon scored a career-high 30 points on 7-10 shooting from three for the Golden Griffins, while Jalen Pickett led the Saints with 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Pickett is averaging 15.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.0 assists in three career games vs. Canisius. Siena leads the all-time series 55-48, although the Golden Griffins have won seven of the past nine matchups in Buffalo.
