JERSEY CITY, NJ – Siena Swimming & Diving (3-7) improved to 3-1 in MAAC competition this season with a tri-meet sweep in New Jersey, Saturday afternoon. The Saints took down league foe Saint Peter's, 190-91, while falling to St. Francis Brooklyn, 145-144 at the Vincent J. Yanitelli Center in Jersey City.
The Green and Gold surpassed its dual meet total from the 2018-19 season with the victories, and also remained undefeated against the Peacocks in head-to-head competition.
Among Siena's event winners on the day was freshman diver Lydia DeLano, who captured both legs of the one-meter diving competition on the day. The Burnt Hills, NY product won the first diving section with a score of 229.55 and the second over two other divers with a 173.80.
The Saints began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of freshmen Jessica Shine and Rory Kalac, along with sophomore Abigail Sheridan and junior Shannon Leary posting a time of 1:53.90.
Kalac would go on to win the 50 free with a near personal-best of 25.14, while senior Rachel Brown placed first in the 100 free with a 56.28. Shine continued her dominance this season in the 100 fly, winning the event with a 1:00.13, while Sheridan followed with a 1:00.50.
The battle with the Terriers would come down to the final race, with SFC's 400 free relay team taking first place to edge out the Saints by a point.
Following its third tri-meet of the season, Siena will return home for its Senior Day meet this coming Saturday. The Saints will welcome in Saint Francis (PA) for dual meet action on Saturday, February 1 at Noon at the Siena Swim Center.
