Siena Basketball Battles Rider Sunday in New Jersey

Saints in Search of Fifth Straight Win, 3-0 MAAC Start

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Siena Basketball looks to secure both its fifth straight win overall and its first 3-0 start in conference action in a decade when the Saints battle MAAC rival Rider Sunday at 2 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium. Siena is the lone MAAC squad at 2-0 in league play, while Rider won its conference opener vs. Marist and holds a MAAC-best 7-4 overall record.

Siena (6-5, 2-0) returns to the road for the first time in 29 days in search of its first victory away from the Times Union Center this season. The Saints have won their first two conference contests for the first time since starting the 2009-10 MAAC Championship season 14-0, and with a victory today would notch the program's first five-game winning streak since rattling off a program record 19 straight from Dec. 23, 2009 - Feb. 8, 2010.

Rider (7-4, 1-0) has dropped its last two games - albeit on the road against up opponents Temple and Wisconsin - following a five-game winning streak. The Broncs are the top-ranked MAAC squad in the latest NCAA NET Rankings (137), and are tied with Siena for the league lead in scoring (73.9) while pacing the conference with 43.0 rebounds per contest.

Siena leads the all-time series with Rider 33-17, and has won eight of the past 11 meetings overall. The Saints defeated the 2018-19 MAAC Preseason favorite Broncs twice last season, 59-57 here in New Jersey on Feb. 10, and 87-81 in the MAAC Quarterfinals at the Times Union Center.
