BUFFALO, NY– Siena Swimming & Diving kicked off it's time at the 2020 MAAC Championships with a splash, recording a school record at the meet for the second consecutive year. The record highlighted the beginning of the annual postseason meet, which is being held at the Burt Flickinger Center Pool on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY.

Rachel Brown and freshmen
Jessica Shine, Lauren Ostrander and
Reilly King swam a time of 7:42.11 in the 800-freestyle relay, shattering the program's previous record set in 2015 (7:45.52). The mark had previously been set by
Jacque Medina, current assistant coach
Maggie Fletcher,
Megan Grace and
Emily Carideo. The accomplishment was the second time in as many seasons that a school record has been set, marking the first time since the 2010-11 campaigns that records had been set in back-to-back seasons.
Aside the a sixth-place finish in the final race of the night, the Saints also took to the pool in two other events. Freshman diver
Lydia DeLano became the first Siena diver since 2016 to represent the team in postseason competition, placing 10
th in the one-meter diving preliminaries with a score of 170.35. The squad's 200-yard medley relay group was disqualified from the event and did not place.
Overall, Siena ended day one with 30 total points in 10
th place. The Saints will look to move up the leaderboard when they take the pool for day two on Thursday, February 13 beginning at 10 AM.
