Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Hobart

Saints Defeated by Statesmen on the Road

Despite an early 4-3 lead after the first 15 minutes of play, the Siena Saints men's lacrosse team was topped on the road by the Hobart Statesmen by a final score of 26-9 Saturday afternoon. Hobart attackman Jason Knox scored a game-high 10 goals in the win for the Statesmen.

In addition for Hobart, Tommy Mott and Eric Holden each scored four goals on the game. Holden ended up with seven points adding three assists, while Mott scored one assist to end up with five points. Overall, the Statesmen took 68 shots with 43 on net. Hobart also snagged 49 ground balls, and were 23-for-28 in the faceoff X. Adam Shea would be a big part of that, as he went 20-for-29 in faceoffs.

Sophomores Luke Julien and Christian Watts, and freshman Colin Gleason each scored a pair of goals for Siena, with Julien's the first two goals of his collegiate career. Senior Dylan Pantalone topped the Saints in points with a goal and three assists, while junior Nick Casner collected a goal and two assists for three points on the game. Junior Brendan Lantieri also scored for Siena.

The Saints started strong as the Green and Gold opened an early 3-0 lead. Gleason would start the scoring as he did in last week's season opener at home. That rolled into goals from Casner and Pantalone to force a Hobart timeout early on. The Statesmen would get on the board, but a goal from Lantieri opened a 4-2 lead before Knox scored his first of the game as it stood 4-3 in favor of the Saints after the first quarter.

Hobart would get the offense rolling in the second, scoring 12 goals in the second frame to take a 15-5 score into halftime as they held the Green and Gold to just one tally in the quarter as well. Overall from their third goal, it would be a 17-1 run for the Statesmen broken up by Julien's first goal. In the second half, Knox continued his scoring streak as part of that run, while Julien and Gleason would notch their second goals of the game in the half as well. However, the Statesmen continued to roll on offense through the final horn.

The Saints return to action next Saturday, Feb. 22 when they play the back end of a lacrosse doubleheader when they play host to UMass Lowell on Hickey Field. The opening faceoff will kick things off at approximately 2 p.m. pending the conclusion of the women's lacrosse home opener at 12 p.m.
