LATHAM, NY - The Siena Saints women's tennis team bounced back from a loss on Friday, and defeated the La Salle Explorers by a final score of 7-0 at Tri-City Fitness on Saturday afternoon. The Saints would win a trio of points on defaults by La Salle, leading to the victory.
"Even though the other team played short handed," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "Our girls stayed focused and played well tonight."
Defaulting at #3 doubles, the Explorers would fall in the first two doubles matches as well, as
Meagan Brown and
Petra Miszczak took the top victory. In #2 doubles,
Juliana Goehner and
Nanea Perkins cinched up the first point of the day for the 1-0 lead.
In singles, La Salle defaulted at #5 and #6 singles with only four players in the lineup. Brown, Miszczak, Goehner, and
Maanya Viswanath each took straight set victories to sweep the match. With her wins on the day, Goehner becomes the first Saint with double-digit wins this season sitting at 11, while Brown and Perkins each also get their 10
th wins of the season. Goehner also sits a perfect 5-0 in dual matches.
The Saints return to action tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 16 when they host their third straight at Tri-City Fitness as they take on the Providence Friars. Opening serve kicks things off at 10 a.m.
