LATHAM, NY – The Siena Saints women's tennis team continued their winning ways on Friday night, as they defeated the Colgate Raiders by a final score of 6-1 at Tri-City Fitness. With the win, the Saints have now won three matches in a row and move to 7-3 on the season.
"The girls played with a lot of energy tonight, and played one of their best matches of the season," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "They beat a tough Colgate team which has good wins against both Fairfield and Marist this season."
The Saints took all three doubles matches, which included a clutch victory at #1 doubles by
Meagan Brown and
Kylie Mullaney. The duo would take a hard fought 6-5 (1) victory, setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Brown would keep the ball rolling at #1 singles, as she handidly took a 6-4, 6-3 win. Mullaney would do the same at #3 singles, winning 6-3, 6-1 in straight sets. Freshman
Maanya Viswanath would also sweep at #4 singles, while classmates
Petra Miszczak and
Anastasia Koniaev both took wins as well. With her wins, Brown sits in a tie with senior
Juliana Goehner for most wins this season with 12.
The Saints return to action next Saturday, Feb. 29 when they return to Tri-City to take on Lafayette. Opening serve for the match will kick things off at 6 p.m.
