LATHAM, NY – Junior
Guillermo Lopez Torres finished his weekend on a high note, grabbing a well-earned win despite the Siena Saints falling to the Fordham Rams by a final score of 5-2.
"The guys played a lot closer than the score today," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "I'm very proud of the energy of the guys that played. We are down a few guys with injuries and it came down to court one and five going three setters. If we could have reversed those results, we would have won the match."
The Saints did not take a match in doubles play, but Lopez Torres made his mark with a huge win at #2 singles. He would defeat Max Green, a 11.58 UTR ranked player by a final of 6-3, 2-6, 10-6. The other win for the Green and Gold would come from freshman
Matt Nardone, as he would take a 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 win at #6 singles.
Siena returns to the courts next Saturday, Feb. 29 when they play host to Lafayette at Tri-City Fitness. Opening serve for the match is set for 2:30 p.m.
