LOUDONVILLE, NY – Previously winners of four of their last five matches this season, the Siena Saints were tested on Sunday afternoon as they took on the St. John's Red Storm in Queens, NY. The Saints sent the Red Storm to the brink, but would fall by a final score of 5-2.

Jeff Osborn. "This team is one of the best teams we have on the schedule all season, and we were competitive on all courts. There are many good things to build on from today's match and we will be ready for our MAAC matches in April.

Beggining in doubles play, the Saints pushed St. John's on courts 2 and 3 as senior
Juliana Goehner and junior
Nanea Perkins fell in a clse 7-6 (5) tiebreaker. Also falling just short in a 7-6 (4) tiebreaker was court 3 featuring freshman Petra Misczcak and
Anastasia Koniaev. With those two courts close, the Saints fell behind 1-0 going into singles play.
Grabbing wins in singles would be the 5th and 6th spots of Koniaev and Goehner, giving Siena it's two points on the day. Koniaev would score a 4-6, 4-1 injury win, while Goehner would go the full three sets for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 win.

The Saints return to action next Friday, Feb. 14 when they return home to Latham and take on LIU Brooklyn at Tri-City Fitness. Opening serve for the Valentine's Day match will get things going at 6 p.m.
