Brennan Scores Four in Loss to Black Knights

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Senior captain Annie Brennan went off with a four-goal game for the Siena Saints Saturday afternoon, but a late push by Army West Point would separate them as the Saints fell 16-10 on the road.

Brennan's four goals led the offense, while junior Kerry Gerety scored a goal and two assists for three points. Sophomore Mary Soures scored twice, while Nicole McNeely scored and tossed out an assist for a pair of points. Kaitlyn Dowsett and Julia Pelcher each scored a goal apiece, while Ally Mervine made eight saves in net.

Samantha Stewart led the Black Knights with a five-goal game on six shots on net. Caroline Raymond and Julia Franzioni each scored three games apiece. Stewart also led Army with 10 draw controls, while Raymond chipped in with a pair of ground balls.

The Black Knights took the early lead, scoring through the first two goals of the game off the stick of Sullivan and Raymond. With the score 2-0 almost 20 minutes into the game, Brennan got going as she scored the Saints first goal with 11:48 remaining in the first half.

Brennan would score her second just two minutes later, as things would get knotted up at 2-2. Pelcher and McNeely would cap a 4-0 run by the Saints as they led 4-2 with 7:38 to play, as the Saints lead would grow to 6-3 with just under two minutes to play in the first half. But a pair of late goals would give Siena only a 6-5 lead headed into the halfway point.

Soures opened up the scoring in the second half in the first few minutes as the Saints took a 7-5 lead. From that point, the Black Knights would open an 8-0 run to go up 13-7 with 13:27 to play. Siena would score three of the next four goals, including Brennan's final two strikes to come back within four at 14-10 with three minutes to play. Army West Point would score another pair of late goals and shut the door on the Saints.

The Saints return to the field on Wednesday, March 4 when they head to Burlington, VT to take on the Vermont Catamounts. Opening draw control kicks off the game at 3 p.m.
