PINEHURST, NC– Siena Men's Golf kicked off its Spring 2020 campaign down south Friday, completing one round at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Saints sit 11th overall in the 13-team field following 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament.
Siena hot +37, 321 to finish eight strokes ahead of MAAC foe Niagara on the par-71, 6937-yard Pinehurst No. 8 course. Elon leads the field one-third of the way through after carding a team total of +7, 291.
Freshman Jack Tobin led the Saints individually in round one, putting down +7, 78 to finish in a split for 27th. Classmate Moritz Weigold followed behind, carding +9, 80 to land in a split for 47th place.
Freshman Nolan Crowley shot +10, 81 to land in a split for 51st place, while sophomore Brody Yates went +11, 81 to land in a split for 60th.
Junior co-captain Jack Brown rounded out the Saints' five-man competition team by shooting +13, 84 to land in a tie for 69th. Competing as an individual, co-captain Pudge Williams birdied once to finish in 77th individually at +18, 89.
Siena will return to the course for day two of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Saturday, March 7, with Williams teeing off from hole one at 8:00 AM and the rest of the team beginning from hole 10 in nine-minute increments at 8:45.
